15 Zimbabweans killed in foreign conflicts

Fifteen Zimbabweans have died in foreign wars so far, Information, Publicity and Broadcasting Services Minister Dr Zhemu Soda has said.

Speaking during a press conference in Harare this afternoon, Dr Soda said Zimbabweans are being lured by unscrupulous job agents from abroad.

He said this is human trafficking, adding that President Mnangagwa has directed his administration to act with urgency on the matter.

Dr Soda said Government is also strengthening bilateral labour agreements with various countries.

Public Service, Labour and Social Welfare Deputy Minister Mercy Dinha said the deaths were reported in Russia.

All in all, 81 Zimbabweans were trafficked, with 66 of them still alive.

Government is in talks with the Russian Government to ensure the safe return of the 66 Zimbabweans, as well as the repatriation of the bodies.
