60 magistrates reshuffled countrywide

AT least 60 magistrates countrywide are being reshuffled to minimise corruption that is reportedly rife at some courts.

The move, according to sources, will ensure the judicial officers do not relax and cause backlogs.
The shake-up was necessitated by allegations that some magistrates were engaging in corrupt activities.

The transfers started in November last year and are expected to end in April this year.
The Herald established that the first group of magistrates moved to their new stations in November last year, while the second batch was transferred last month.
