Africa Health watch: Is losing weight An Uphill Struggle?

Losing weight can be an uphill struggle for many people, especially in Africa. This has been attributed due to the improved lifestyle over the years. This is, of course, something to be happy about. But, as the standard of living rises, people are more likely to have access to processed foods and sugary drinks. This can lead to unhealthy eating habits. Also, with increased access to technology, people spend more time sitting down. They are more prone to engage in sedentary activities. This includes watching television or playing video games. This lack of physical activity can contribute to weight gain. Furthermore, many African countries lack the resources necessary for proper nutrition education. They also do not have proper health promotion initiatives that could help prevent obesity-related diseases.
