Epworth town secretary Dr Wilton Mhanda has urged the full board to fully prepare for consultants who will be evaluating the performance of mayors, town secretaries and councillors from May 11 to June 15.
He said the impending visit by the consultants was communicated in Cabinet minutes sent to Ministries, parastatals and local authorities.
“Previously, we were very close to winning awards, but I think this time again, we will also try to do the same,” he said.
According to the minutes, the consultants are expected to present a detailed report of the 2025 performance evaluation results of Ministers and Permanent Secretaries, chief executive officers and board chairpersons with the public entities under the purview of Ministries.
“The engagement of Ministries together with public entities falling under the purview will ensure that there is signage and synchronisation in planning and implementation of various policies and strategies within the ecosystems, sector and national level,” read the minutes.
“The announcement of the results also signals the commencement of the 2026 performance evaluation process.
“This engagement also includes local authorities, the independent commission, Mutapa Investment Fund, Public Service Commission and the Office of the President and Cabinet.
“In addition to the announcement of the results for the 2025 fiscal year, the consultant will also offer policy and administrative recommendations to improve public sector performance and quality service delivery.
“In this regard, my office will facilitate the systemic sternward engagement of consultants with the respective NDS.”
