UPDATED: National hero Brigadier-General Mzheri’s body flown to Mberengwa

THE body of national hero Brigadier-General (Retired) Mpandasekwa Mzheri has been airlifted to his rural home in the Vutika area of Mberengwa district, where family, friends and colleagues are expected to pay their last respects.
The body will return to Harare this afternoon to lie in state at the Mzheri family residence in Helensvale.
Director of procurement in the Ministry of Home Affairs and Cultural Heritage Colonel (Retd) Onward Tokoda said: “Our late national hero, Brigadier-General Mzheri, will be flown to Mberengwa, his rural home, where we are going to have a church service. And
we also expect the resident minister to address us there. Thereafter, the body will be flown back to Harare, and it will then be transferred to his homestead in Helensville, where it is going to lie in state.”
Tomorrow, we expect a church service to be held at his Helensville home at 2pm.

The body will then be taken back to Charles Gumbo Barracks parlour, where it will lie in state ahead of burial on Monday.
President Mnangagwa is expected to preside over the burial.
Brig-Gen Mzheri died on Monday at a Harare medical facility.
He was 75.
