RESIDENTS of Chitungwiza received free medical services on Saturday as CitiMed Hospital hosted a community open day.
The event, held at the hospital premises, ran throughout the day and marked 27 years of service by the institution.
CitiMed partnered with several organisations, including AudioMax, Optinova, Health 4U – Bonvie Medical Aid and Nyaradzo Life Assurance to offer a wide range of free services.
Services provided included hearing screening, blood pressure checks, blood sugar testing, eye screening, breast cancer screening, dental check-ups, and HIV counselling and testing. Hearing aids were also given to children under the age of 18 in need.
The hospital’s public relations manager, Munyaradzi Mhlanga, said the initiative was part of the hospital’s efforts to give back to the community that has supported it over the years.
“This is about corporate social responsibility and appreciating the community that has made us who we are today,” said Mr Mhlanga.
Discounted mammogram screenings were also offered during the event. CitiMed Hospital accommodates up to 150 patients and offers services such as maternity care, neurology, optometry, and a training school for students, which also offers them attachment.
The open day attracted many residents who took advantage of the free services, with partners working together to improve access to healthcare in the area.
