A 70-year-old man from New Lobengula suburb in Bulawayo, has appeared in court facing allegations of indecent assault involving three juvenile girls from his neighbourhood. Amendo Nyathi appeared before Bulawayo magistrate, Mr Mark Dzira, facing three counts of indecent assault and was remanded in custody to Thursday, October 23, 2025.
The complainants are female juveniles aged 11, 12 and nine years — all residents of New Lobengula, Bulawayo.
Prosecuting, Mr Jethro Mada told the court that the alleged offences occurred sometime in 2023, during the day, at New Lobengula suburb, when Nyathi invited the three minors to his home.
“Once there, the accused allegedly gave the complainants his mobile phone to watch pornographic videos,” said Mr Mada.
The court heard that Nyathi then asked each of the complainants to engage in sexual acts with him.
He allegedly undressed himself, ordered two of the girls to undress and instructed them to sit on his thighs.
“He then rubbed his penis against their buttocks before handing each of them a one-dollar note and warning them not to tell anyone about the incident,” Mr Mada said.
In another instance involving the 12-year-old complainant, the accused allegedly rubbed his penis against her private parts after making her undress.
She was also given a US$1 note and told to remain silent.
The matter came to light when one of the complainants disclosed the incident to her parents, who then summoned the other girls. Following their disclosures, the matter was reported to the police, leading to Nyathi’s arrest in July.
