CECE Winans’ World Tour, which will see her perform in Harare next month, opened in Longueuil, Canada, last night, setting the tone for a marathon chain of shows which will end in Nashville, Tennessee, United States, in March next year.
The SEVENTEEN-TIME Grammy Awards winner, who is the world’s most decorated and best selling female gospel artist, is set to perform in Harare on August 16 at the Celebration Centre.
She will come exactly a month after her fellow American gospel artist, Travis Greene, performs at the same venue tomorrow.
Travs, who calls Zimbabwe his second home, is on a World Tour.
He is known for his powerful blend of contemporary worship and urban gospel music.
His arrival is going to set the tempo for what appears to be a grand invasion of the local musical scene by international artists as winter begins to make way for spring with summer to follow.
For the gospel music fans it’s as good as it can ever get.
Because, in this genre, nothing gets bigger than a date with Cece Winans.
The American gospel queen’s 17 Grammy Awards are the most such accolades ever won by a female gospel singer and she has also won 31 GMA Dove Awards, 16 Stellar Awards, Seven NAACP Awards and four Billboard Music Awards.
She was a close friend of Whitney Houston and performed at the superstar’s funeral.
She will perform in Harare as part of her World Tour which opened yesterday Cece Winans has been inducted into the Black Music & Entertainment Hall Of Fame and has a star on the Hollywood Walk Of Fame.
She is set to perform on August 26.
The Sunshine City will be just one of five African cities where the legendary Cece Winans will perform during her World Tour.
The other cities are Johannesburg, Cape Town, Kampala in Uganda and Nairobi in Kenya.
Her World Tour, which has already seen some of her concerts being sold out long before she arrives for the shows, will take her across the United States, Trinidad and Tobago, Kingston in Jamaica and will come to a close in Nashville, the city where she lives with her husband.
Cece Winans is celebrated around the world as one of the greatest female gospel musicians of all-time.

Her tour of Harare is being organised by Events by GEC.
