ACE saxophonist Denilson Panashe Musekiwa says his fashion sense is inspired by his passion for creativity.

Denilson has made a name for himself by playing his saxophone for various clients, especially women and couples on special occasions, and has earned the nickname, ‘Mukomana weBhosvo.’

However, he has been criticised by some people who are not happy with his type of dressing.

“My fashion sense is inspired by my passion for creativity and self- expression,” he said.

“Well, I feel like Zimbabwe’s style and fashion is still behind due to lack of exposure and unacceptance of art.

“Fashion allows me to combine my art with practical skills.

“The combination of a nice outfit and a saxophone makes my day.”

Asked who designs his attire and how long does it takes to make one, the talented saxophonist said he creates his outfits.

“I am the designer. I create my outfits based on the mood and occasion. I have different tailors from different countries.

“I can’t share their details.”

Denilson said he has lost count of the number of outfits he has.

“Unfortunately, I don’t know how many outfits I have now but I know if I choose not to repeat an outfit every day until the year-end, it can be possible.

“I love wearing a white complete formal suit as it goes well with the saxophone presentation.”

He said his role model, when it comes to fashion, is Tanzanian musician and dancer Diamond Platnumz.

“When it comes to fashion, I am inspired by Diamond Platnumz. He is one artist who has shown men, especially artists, that fashion is eternal.

“He has proved how fashion can influence his value as an artist.

“I can say that he has gained a lot of attention through his fashion styles.” Musekiwa said his dressing is based on the occasion.

“Usually, my dressing differs with the type of event.

“Where formal wear is required, I do formal, where casual is required, I do casual. It is about style. I also give people room to request what they want me to wear.”

He said he would like to play for Nigerian star Davido if given a chance.

“He is my favourite artist and I really appreciate his art.”
