BINGA’S acting Chief Sinampande, born Amos Mudenda (45), has found himself on the wrong side of the law after being dragged to court for allegedly having a sexual relationship with a 15-year-old girl from Lusulu.

Mudenda, from Malambwa Village under Chief Sinampande, appeared before magistrate Nyengeterai Bushu facing charges of contravening sexual intercourse with a child. The State alleges that the acting Chief lured the teenager into a bushy area near her home in Siadindi village, under Chief Pashu, in June this year. It is claimed that the two engaged in sexual activity during this encounter.

The secret affair was exposed when the girl confided in her younger sister. The sister reportedly told a community elder, who immediately informed the girl’s mother. Police were called in, resulting in Mudenda’s arrest.

According to State prosecutor Nomila Nkala, the law does not recognise consent when the complainant is under 18, meaning Mudenda faces serious legal consequences. Nkala added that a medical examination has been conducted and the report will be produced in court.

Mudenda now faces the grim reality of the law and the public outcry over his alleged actions. His position as acting Chief has come under scrutiny as community members express shock and disappointment at the accusations against him.

The court has remanded Mudenda in prison to next week as investigations continue. Community leaders have called for swift justice, emphasising the need to protect minors and uphold moral standards among traditional leadership.
