ACTOR MENZI Biyela has ventured into music.
Menzi is popularly known for roles in Uzalo, Rhythm City, Ifalakhe and the leading role in Mzansi Magic’s new telenovela Ithonga, as Mbongeni.
Recently Menzi formed a band, TheNewSoundOfSA, with up-and-coming musicians Zakwethu and Tzeny.
Speaking to TshisaLIVE, Menzi said it’s exciting times ahead — embracing a new chapter because being a solo artist can be thrilling and challenging.
“I’m taking a bold step and it’s great that I’m looking forward to it.
“As a solo artist, I’ll have the freedom to explore my unique sound and style without compromise.
“I’ll be taking part in the Siyanqoba Music Festival in Pinetown. It will be a new chapter for me after performing with my band TheNewSoundOfSA multiple times.”
He said he’d also get the chance to interact with viewers and see how they’ve taken to his new character Mbongeni in iThonga.
Menzi said he is enjoying the role in iThonga more as the story progresses.
“Acting can be a challenging but rewarding experience and it’s wonderful that I’m finding my feet and connecting with the character. As I continue to grow into the role, I’m sure I’ll keep learning and discovering new aspects of Mbongeni and the story.” — Times.
