Afghanistan U’19 jets in for tri-nation

THE Afghanistan Uner-19 cricket team arrived in Zimbabwe on Tuesday ahead of the tri-nation Youth ODI Series that gets underway at Harare Sports Club on Christmas day.

The team landed at the Robert Gabriel Mugabe International Airport late Monday evening for the series which serves as preparation for the ICC Men’s Under-19 Cricket World Cup 2026 to be co-hosted by Zimbabwe and Namibia from next month.

The tri-nation tournament will also feature Pakistan Under-19 who were crowned Asia Cup champions at the weekend.

The matches are scheduled in Harare from December 25 to January 6.

Zimbabwe and Afghanistan will get the series underway on December 25 at Harare Sports Club. The second match will see Afghanistan take on Pakistan on December 27, also at Harare Sports Club.

The tournament will then move to Prince Edward School on December 29, where Zimbabwe will face Pakistan, before the hosts return to action on New Year’s Eve against Afghanistan at Sunrise Sports Club.

Afghanistan and Pakistan will meet again on January a at Sunrise Sports Club, while the final round-robin fixture will be staged at Old Hararians Sports Club two days later, with Zimbabwe taking on Pakistan. This is where the final of the tri-series will also be played.
