AFRO-FUSION musician and arts administrator Agga Nyabinde has vowed to do his best to ensure the family legacy lives on

He lost his father, Bob Nyabinde, on December 23, 2023. Agga has been working hard to keep the fire burning, with the assistance of his saxophonist brother, Albert.

Agga holds shows regularly at what used to be his father’s fortresses.

As the leader of the 2 Nice Band, he hardly disappoints. “I lost my father three years ago, and the wound is still fresh, as fresh as ever,” he said.

“I have realised that the best way to get over this issue is through hard work and consistency.

“I am always striving to do my best, and I seize each and every opportunity that I get.

“I am glad that fans have embraced me and I will do my best to ensure that we honour him the best way we can.”

Armed with four albums — Kushanda released in 2019, Basa Ibasa (2020), Kufara KweMumwe (2022) and Honai (2024) — Agga has built a good reputation as a gifted composer and entertainer.

“I always give it my all in whatever I do, and I am glad that I still have people who value my work.

“It feels good being embraced by many, and I love it when most people who used to follow my late dad are now backing me. There is no other endorsement than that, and I can’t thank them enough.”

The National Arts Council of Zimbabwe boss added: “To all my old and new fans, I promise more good music and more things to come.

“I have always loved this trade, and it’s now my time to shine.  I am glad that I am doing what I love the most. With the backing of my fans, we are destined for the stars, and more things are coming.”

Agga stands as a testament to resilience and commitment, channelling his grief into a passion for music. As he continues to honour his father’s legacy, he inspires not only his family but also his community to cherish the power of art and creativity.

The crooner was also groomed by the late Oliver “Tuku” Mtukudzi, who used to be Nyabinde’s friend back in Kwekwe.
