The Air Force of Zimbabwe has commissioned a state-of-the-art administration block at Simchemba Secondary School in Gokwe.

The development has paved the way for the school to be a certified ZIMSEC Centre that will also serve surrounding schools.

Previously, students from this school and surrounding schools used to use examination centres at schools 50 kilometres away.

The block was built under the Zimbabwe Defence Forces Community Assistance programme of aiding communities and civil ministries during peacetime.

The block was funded by proceeds from the Commander AFZ Charity Fund while AFZ artisans provided skilled labour.

Deputy Minister of Defence, Brigadier General Retired Levi Mayihlome, officially handed the block to the community.

The block is this year’s Community Assistance Programme star project.
