THE country’s up coming body-builders will, on March 28, converge at the Zimbabwe College of Music for this year’s edition of the Mr Novice Zimbabwe championships.
The contest, which is meant for beginners, has so far attracted the attention of 40 gym clubs from across all the provinces.
Several categories are lined up, among them senior men bodybuilding open, Junior men bodybuilding up to and including 21 years and the Men’s Fitness Open.
The athletes will also compete in the men’s physique open, women bikini open, women wellness open and the wheelchair men bodybuilding and classic physique open.
Quiet Shangai, the national Federation of Zimbabwe Body-building and fitness secretary-general said the majority of the country’s provinces have confirmed their participation.
“Remember this is the country’s premier amateur bodybuilding and fitness competition and as such, it usually attract competitors from across the country.”
“So far Mashonaland East, Manicaland, Masvingo, Matabeleland South, Bulawayo, Harare and Midlands have confirmed their participation.”
“I am sure the rest of the provinces will also confirm their participation any time soon,” Shangai said.
Shangai also spoke about the importance of the Mr Novice championships.
“The competition helps to create athletism in incoming athletes among other key developmental issues.”
“Bodybuilding is a diverse sport that has many divisions. Mr Novice is a platform for newcomers to get the primary intelligence that one needs to progress in bodybuilding,” Shangai said.
