THE resort City of Victoria Falls on Thursday hosted international internet celebrity IShowSpeed, as part of his widely publicised African tour.

The American YouTuber and streamer, whose real name is Darren Watkins Jr, is renowned for his energetic, engaging content where he immerses himself in local cultures worldwide.

His current “Speed Does Africa” tour has already generated headlines across the continent, with previous stops in Botswana, South Africa, Eswatini, and Mozambique.

Zimbabwe became his latest canvas, with the majestic Victoria Falls as the centre piece. Upon arrival at the waterfall, IShowSpeed was greeted with vibrant traditional dances.

The roar of the smoke that thunders at the Victoria Falls competed with the screams of excited fans on Thursday as IShowSpeed brought his electrifying “Speed Does Africa” tour to Zimbabwe’s prime resort city.

True to his interactive style, IShowSpeed joined in, to the roaring cheers of a gathered crowd, predominantly drawn from the city’s youthful generation. His visit was seamlessly organised by a consortium of local agencies, whose management revealed the star’s profound admiration for the destination.

Mrs Kuda Hove, a managing director of the companies involved in the hosting of IShowSpeed, revealed that the internet sensation expressed his delight at visiting Victoria Falls.

“Rogue and Associates was entrusted with the destination management for Zimbabwe, and Lewa and Co was appointed as the VF VIP Host in partnership with Love for Africa.

“We had the pleasure of welcoming IShowSpeed to Victoria Falls, and he expressed his delight at visiting our stunning destination,” said Mrs Hove.

His adventure-packed itinerary exposed him to the region’s offerings.

The tour commenced at The Elephant and Cheetah Experience, before venturing into the mist-shrouded Victoria Falls rainforest to witness the Mosi oa Tunya firsthand.

Demonstrating his trademark fearlessness, he then proceeded to the Victoria Falls Bridge for a bungee jump into the Batoka Gorge, before crossing over into Zambia. Mrs Hove detailed the curated experience offered to the star.

“During his stay, he enjoyed three complimentary activities: the Elephant Experience at Elephant and Cheetah Experience, a tour of Victoria Falls rainforest, and the Shearwater Bungy Jump. IShowSpeed thoroughly enjoyed his time in our beautiful country and has now departed after an exhilarating and memorable experience,” she said.

IShowSpeed’s visit to Zimbabwe commenced in Harare on Wednesday, where he showcased his unique brand of travel journalism, actively engaging with Zimbabweans, participating in traditions, and showcasing the beauty and adrenaline of Zimbabwe to his millions of global subscribers.

Through his lens, the natural splendour and adventurous spirit of Victoria Falls are projected onto a worldwide stage, offering invaluable exposure for Zimbabwe’s prime tourism jewel.
