GREETINGS, beloved nation. Isaiah 40:31 says, “But those who wait on the LORD shall renew their strength; they shall mount up with wings like eagles, they shall run and not be weary, they shall walk and not faint.”
The Bible also tells us in Isaiah 40:28, “Have you not known? Have you not heard? The everlasting God, the LORD, the Creator of the ends of the earth, neither faints nor is weary. His understanding is unsearchable.”
Ladies and gentlemen, our God does not faint, according to the Scriptures. Other creations—animals and mankind—get weary. There are circumstances around us that make us weary. Some believers have even fainted in their commitment to the things of God.
The Scriptures ask us, “Have you not known? Have you not heard?” implying that there are people who do not realise that God does not faint or grow weary. When things are not going well in their lives, families or nations, they may believe God has failed or is unable to solve difficult situations.
The Scriptures affirm that God does not get weary; He does not faint like us. Verses 29 and 30 say, “He gives power to the weak and to those who have no might, He increases strength.”
In this world, many things can make us weary. You need strength—may God increase your strength. God is pushing us to a place where our strength can be renewed. If you are operating with former glory, it is time to move into a new glory.
Isaiah 40:31 tells us that those who wait upon the Lord shall renew their strength. We first walk, then run and finally mount up with wings as eagles. We must have the strength of an eagle.
I have studied the life of an eagle and one remarkable trait is its sharp vision. Eagles can see prey from kilometres away. An eagle represents the prophetic eye, so as believers, we must operate in the prophetic grace. We need to see things clearly about our lives, churches, and businesses.
We should operate in the grace of the eagle, hearing prophetic whispers and directions from heaven. I pray that you may have a prophetic eye to operate in the grace of dominion. Every decision in life—whether concerning business, family, relationships, ministry or career—must be based on prophetic guidance from the Holy Spirit.
The prophetic grace can come upon anyone if you ask for it; it is different from the office of the prophet. We need the ability to interpret the signs—like the writing on the wall.
One thing I have learned about eagles is that at around 40 years of age, they face a critical decision: to die or to undergo a painful process of rebirth to extend their lifespan. During this process, the eagle flies to a high nest on a mountain and begins renewing its beak, talons and feathers—an intense and painful process that can take several months.
An eagle’s beak and talons are used to hunt and kill large prey. As it ages, these become blunt and can no longer serve their purpose. The eagle then must go through the painful process of removing its beak and talons by hitting them against rocks, waiting for new ones to grow back. During this time, it cannot eat or hunt, surviving only on water—symbolic of the Word of God.
Some of you may have become spiritually blunt, failing to catch things in the Spirit. Your prophetic discernment needs sharpening, your spiritual life must be revitalized.
We must examine ourselves to see if we are still sharp in the things of the Lord. If not, we must undergo a process of renewal—like the eagle.
Some of our mouths need renewal too. We must discipline our speech because words can build or destroy. As believers, we are called to speak life.
Now I understand Isaiah 40:31 better: the renewal of strength is a process—sometimes painful. During this period, the eagle is vulnerable. It cannot eat and only survives on water, which symbolizes the Word of God. When we choose to be renewed, we enter a period of fasting—hitting ourselves against the Rock, Jesus—removing what needs to go from our lives. This is a time of separation. God will detach us from certain noises and distractions.
Once the eagle’s beak grows back, it begins shedding old feathers in a painful process to regain flight and strength.
Interestingly, after this renewal process, an eagle can live another 40 years.
God is calling us into a place of renewal. Ezekiel 1:10 describes four faces: “The face of a man, the face of a lion, the face of an ox and the face of an eagle.”
The lion signifies a fighting spirit, dominion, power and authority. The eagle signifies prophetic vision. The ox represents servanthood and the man signifies compassion. As believers, we are expected to operate in these dimensions.
Isaiah 40:31 speaks about mounting up with wings as eagles. Notice that eagles rarely flap their wings; they spread them and soar through the sky—even in fierce storms.
As believers, we are called to soar above the storms of life, making a decision to renew ourselves like the eagle so that we can be strengthened where we have become weary.
