GREETINGS, beloved nation. Isaiah 40:31: “But those who wait on the LORD shall renew their strength; they shall mount up with wings like eagles, they shall run and not be weary, they shall walk and not faint.”
The Bible tells us in Isaiah 40:28 that, “Have you not known? Have you not heard? The everlasting God, the LORD, the Creator of the ends of the earth, neither faints nor is weary. His understanding is unsearchable.”
Ladies and gentlemen, our God does not faint, according to the scriptures. Other creations get weary, animals get weary, and mankind gets weary. There are things that surround us that make us weary. Some believers have even fainted in their commitment to the things of God. The scriptures are asking us a question: “Have you not heard or have you not known?”
This means there are people who do not know that God does not faint or get weary. When things are not going right in their lives, families or nations, they believe God has failed or is unable to solve difficult situations. The scriptures tell us and point out that God does not get weary, God does not faint like us.
The Bible then goes on to tell us in verse 29: “He gives power to the weak and to those who have no might He increases strength.” In this world we live in, many things make us weary. You need strength. May God increase your strength. God is guiding us to a place where our strength needs to be renewed. If you are operating with former glory, you need to move to a place of new glory.
The Bible tells us in verse 31 that those who wait upon the Lord shall renew their strength. We first walk, then run, and then we mount up with wings as eagles. We must have the strength of an eagle.
I have studied the life of an eagle, and one thing about the eagle is that its vision is very sharp.
They can see prey from kilometres away. An eagle represents the prophetic eye, so we must operate in the prophetic grace. You must be able to see things about your life, church or business. We need to operate in the graces of an eagle as believers. We need to hear the prophetic whispers and directions from the corridors of heaven.
I pray that you may have a prophetic eye so that you can operate in the grace of dominion. Every decision you make in life — whether it concerns business, family, relationships, ministry or career — must be based on prophetic guidance from the Holy Spirit. The grace of prophecy can come upon anyone if you ask for it. It is different from the office of the prophet. We need to be able to interpret the writing on the wall. One thing I have learned about the eagle is that when it reaches the age of 40, it faces a decision: to die or to go through the painful process of rebirth and extend its life. An eagle comes to a place of waiting, a place of decision. This process involves the eagle flying to a nest high up on a mountain cliff to begin the painful task of renewing its beak, talons and feathers. Over several months, the eagle renews itself.
An eagle’s beak and talons are sharp, it eats fresh meat and relies on hunting. Eagles use their beak and talons to kill large animals. When they get old, their beak and talons become blunt, they can no longer catch prey or feed themselves. So, they must go through the painful process of removing their beak and talons so new ones can grow. When in the mountain, they hit their beak against a rock and their talons. During that time, they cannot eat or catch anything and only survive on water.
Some of you have become spiritually blunt and are failing to catch things in the Spirit. Your prophetic gift needs sharpening, your spiritual life must be sharp.
We need to check ourselves to see if we are still sharp in the things of the Lord. If not, we must go through this process of renewal, like an eagle.
Some of our mouths need renewal. We must be disciplined with our speech because the mouth can build up or destroy.
Do not speak carelessly. As believers, we must speak life.
Now I understand Isaiah 40:31 better — it speaks of the process of renewing our strength, which can be painful. At this point, the eagle is vulnerable, it can be attacked. It cannot eat and only survives on water, which signifies the Word of God.
When we decide to be renewed, this is the process we go through. We enter a time of fasting and as we hit ourselves against the rock (Jesus), certain things are removed from our lives. This is a time of separation. God will separate you from certain noises.
Once the eagle’s beak has grown back, it begins the painful process of removing its old feathers so it can fly again with renewed strength. One interesting thing is that, after this process, the eagle can live another 40 years.
God is calling us into a place of renewal. The Bible tells us in Ezekiel 1:10: “As for the likeness of their faces, each had the face of a man; each of the four had the face of a lion on the right side, each of the four had the face of an ox on the left side and each of the four had the face of an eagle.”
The face of the lion signifies a fighting spirit, dominion, power and authority. The face of the eagle signifies prophetic vision. The face of the ox signifies servanthood — operating as servants. The face of a man signifies compassion and thinking of others. These are the dimensions in which we are expected to operate as believers. Isaiah 40:31 speaks about mounting up with wings as eagles. When you observe an eagle, you will notice that they rarely flap their wings. They simply spread them and soar through the sky, even in fierce storms. As believers, we are called to mount up with wings as eagles, above the storms of life.
This is a call to make a decision to be renewed like an eagle so that we can be strengthened once again where we have become weary.
