THREE Sai Mart shops, one of them a stone’s throw from a police station, were on Saturday morning hit by armed robbers who were moving in a blue hybrid Honda Fit with no number plates.
According to shop employees, the robbers struck at Entumbane, New Lobengula and Nkulumane 11 shops.
“It was a movie-like scene, two guys walked into the shop, cocked their guns and ordered everyone to lie down,” said an employee at the Entumbane shop where police details were seen taking statements from a supervisor. Two other robbers are said to have remained in the getaway car.

One of the employees fainted during the robbery and an ambulance had to be summoned after the robbers had left with more than US$4,000 they took from a money transfer agency inside the shop, according to another employee.
They used the same modus operandi at the New Lobengula branch, although this time one of them pointed a gun at the security guard.

“I am still traumatised, if it was by me, I would have knocked off and gone home to recuperate,” said a female shop attendant.
The robbers again took cash from the same money transfer agency.
When the news crew got to the Nkulumane 11 branch, CID Homicide details were taking statements from employees.
Bulawayo Police spokesperson Inspector Nomalanga Msebele said she will provide details later.
