POLICE in Bulawayo have arrested a member of a three-man gang that was terrorising residents in Luveve and Cowdray Park suburbs.

Announcing the arrest of Themba Ncube, a 25-year-old man from Magwegwe North, Bulawayo provincial police spokesperson Inspector Nomalanga Msebele said Ncube and his accomplices, Joseph Phiri (38), also of Magwegwe North, and Oscar Ndlovu, who are still at large, had been terrorising residents in Luveve and Cowdray Park by breaking into houses at night while occupants were asleep.

“These criminals were using iron bars to force open doors and gain entry into houses whilst they were armed with knives and a pistol. Inside the house they would assault and threaten to kill the complainants while demanding cash and valuables,” said Insp Msebele.

She said the accused persons robbed four different houses, getting away with valuables including cellphones and cash amounting to US$920.

“On the 23rd of December 2025 at about 0500 hours, police received information that the accused persons were near Emakhandeni Secondary School. Following the leads, police spotted the accused persons and they fled. Police gave chase, leading to the arrest of Ncube, who was interviewed and admitted to having committed the offences,” said Insp Msebele.

She thanked members of the public for supplying information that led to the arrest of the suspect and urged residents to tighten home security by securing doors and windows with strong locks and installing burglar bars.

“We appeal to members of the public with information that may lead to the arrest of the outstanding accused persons to come forward and report at any nearest police station,” said Insp Msebele.
