Media personality Molemo Katleho Maarohanye, popularly known as Jub Jub, will be back in court next month after his case related to the alleged illegal brandishing and discharge of a firearm was postponed by the Germiston Magistrates’ Court.
The National Prosecuting Authority (NPA) confirmed on Monday that the matter had been postponed to September 7, 2026. The postponement follows Maarohanye’s failure to appear in court due to alleged ill health. A warrant of arrest was issued following his non-appearance but was held over until his next scheduled appearance.
Maarohanye is facing charges of discharging a firearm in a public place and pointing anything likely to lead a person to believe that it is a firearm.
The charges stem from an incident involving an e-hailing driver in Edenvale on June 14, 2026. The Uyajola 9/9 presenter was arrested after he allegedly accused the e-hailing driver, who had just dropped off his girlfriend, of having a romantic relationship with her.
This led to the altercation during which the firearm was allegedly produced and discharged.
Maarohanye’s legal team has thus far denied the allegations.
As part of the investigation into the incident, law enforcement officials searched Maarohanye’s residence, where they seized a pellet gun.
The matter had previously been postponed to allow investigators to complete further investigations. The NPA said it is now ready to proceed with the prosecution.
“The NPA confirms that the state is ready to proceed with the prosecution and remains committed to ensuring that the matter is dealt with fairly and in accordance with the law,” the authority said.
Maarohanye, a television and radio personality, has yet to have the allegations against him tested in court – Sunday World.
