BULAWAYO content creator Ashley Mlambo, known to her fans as @itz_ashley on TikTok, is back stronger than ever after a major online setback. The young digital storyteller is steadily building a name for herself in Zimbabwe’s fast-growing social media space, connecting with thousands of followers through humour, honesty, and relatable content.
Ashley’s journey has not been smooth. She once lost a TikTok account with 19 000 followers after it was hacked — a blow that could have stopped many in their tracks. But not Ashley.
“I started creating content on TikTok as a way to have fun and express myself,” she said. “But as my videos began to reach more people, I realised the potential the platform had, and that’s when I decided to take it more seriously.”
Her comeback was dramatic. A standout video where she rated IShowSpeed’s world tour went viral, racking up over 200 000 views on her new account.
“That video felt like a comeback and proved to me that I can rebuild and grow even stronger,” she said.
With over 7 000 followers now, Ashley thrives on content that resonates with everyday experiences, trending topics, and a personal touch that keeps her audience engaged.
“Through my content, I hope to entertain, inspire, and create a positive space where people feel seen, understood and uplifted,” she said.
Even with challenges like limited resources and spotty internet, Ashley has stayed consistent and innovative.
“These challenges have pushed me to become more creative and determined,” she noted.
Looking ahead, Ashley aims to expand her brand beyond TikTok, collaborate with big-name brands, and turn her passion into a sustainable career.
Her story is proof that with creativity, resilience, and a loyal audience, even after setbacks, a digital voice can rise again.
