RELATIONS between Zimbabwe and Asian countries are set for a new phase of cooperation as the two parties celebrate the longstanding friendship and growing people-to-people connections through food, film and cultural exchanges.
Embassies of the People’s Republic of China, South Korea, India, Pakistan, Japan, Indonesia and Malaysia are on July 31 and August 1 jointly hosting the Asian Culture Festival, which will also provide a platform of communication and interaction between diplomats, government officials, development partners and youth leaders, among others.
In a joint statement, the embassies said the festival was a new platform to celebrate relations with Zimbabwe.
“The two-day festival taking place at in Harare is a new cultural diplomacy platform that celebrates the longstanding friendship and growing people-to-people connections between Zimbabwe and Asia through food, film and cultural exchange.
“The event is intentionally designed to be compact, elegant and experiential, prioritising
meaningful interactions over scale. Rather than creating a large and expensive festival, the Asian Culture Festival seeks to establish a sustainable annual platform that can grow over time whilst maintaining its unique identity,” the statement read.
Other activities include the screening of Asian films and storytelling. Asian cinema continues to attract a growing audience in Zimbabwe, particularly productions from India, China and South Korea.
