MRS Universe Zimbabwe national director, Sibonelo Khupe, has hailed Atipa Busuman, the country’s representative at Mrs World 2026.
She travelled to Sri Laka for the pageant, which was held on Saturday, and has described Atipa’s performance as memorable.
“So proud of my girl Atipa, what she did last night cannot be undone,” she said.
The Mrs Universe 2026 title went to Isidora Ranković, who represented Monaco.
“Empowering a girl child is empowering generations,” said Khupe. Atipa’s participation also helped showcase Zimbabwe’s cultural identity through her costume, titled ‘Hungwe Huru: Guardian of Zimbabwe’s Wonders’. Inspired by the Hungwe, or fish eagle, the design drew on the Great Zimbabwe Bird, a national symbol associated with the country’s heritage. It also featured references to Great Zimbabwe and Khami Ruins.
The costume also celebrated Zimbabwe’s natural attractions, including wildlife in Hwange and Gonarezhou national parks, the Zambezi River and Victoria Falls. Cowrie shells and beads represented the country’s natural wealth, while feathers symbolised the strength and resilience of its people.
The outfit was brought to life through a collaboration involving African creatives Jaspizy Welcome, African Fabric & Designs Kenya and Afro Aesthetics.
