Attempted murder charge for Lobengula man (46) accused of bludgeoning sibling

A 46-year-old Bulawayo man has appeared in court facing allegations of attempted murder after hitting his brother with an unknown object on the back of the head.

Simenkosini Ndlovu of New Lobengula appeared before Bulawayo regional magistrate, Mr Taurai Manwere, charged with attempted murder as defined in Section 189 (1) as read with Section 47 (1) of the Criminal Law (Codification and Reform) Act Chapter 9:23.

He was remanded in custody to March 12 as the complainant is still admitted to hospital.

The accused person is the complainant’s brother.

Prosecuting, Ms Hazel Ncube told the court that on February 23 at around 7PM at their house in New Lobengula, the complainant retired to bed after drinking beer with the accused and his friends.

The court heard that the accused person then followed the complainant to his bedroom and accused him of being disrespectful.

The accused then hit the complainant with an unknown object on the back of the head and he started bleeding profusely.

A report was made to the police on the following day leading to the arrest of the accused and the complainant was referred to hospital for medical examination and is still admitted.
