HIP-HOP artist Prince “M.G Hkh” Moyo has spent the last six years balancing two lives as a qualified automobile electrician by day and what he calls a pioneer of Zim-Trap-Soul by night.
The 28-year-old was raised between Masvingo and Harare.
Moyo started making music in 2019 after a tragic family accident.
M.G Hkh said the loss led to his debut album “Pray Hard” in 2020 and the tribute song “Rufu Runopedza.”
It established him on the underground scene as an artist focused on resilience and vulnerability.
Since then he has released “No Pressure,” “60K” and the hit “Sadza Rakashisha.”
He said his music draws inspiration from artists like Rod Wave, Fridayy and Meek Mill, but stays rooted in Harare with heavy 808s, emotional melodies and lyrics in both Shona and English.
M.G Hkh latest single “Damaged Thoughts” follows “Sadza Rakashisha” and marks a shift away from club music.
The song addresses mental health, anxiety and overthinking.
“Too many people in Harare, in Africa, in the world are suffering in silence anxiety and overthinking at 3AM thoughts and nobody talks about it.
“So I decided to sing about it.”
He describes “Damaged Thoughts” as a song about turning heavy thoughts into something healing.
The single is also his first English-only release aimed at audiences in Canada, the US and UK.
Moyo says he wants to show a different side of Zimbabwean music.
“Most music from Zim that goes global is either dance or pain with no hope.
“I wanted to show the world that Zimbabweans feel deep, we think deep, we heal deep. It’s not just about being broken.
“If I can heal through this song, maybe you can too.”
M.G Hkh said working in the garage keeps him connected to everyday people.
“The garage keeps me close to real people. Their stories become the songs.
“Damaged Thoughts is a raw, transparent journey exploring themes of mental resilience, hidden internal battles, and unwavering faith.
“The track stands as a musical anchor for anyone forced to smile through the storm while dying deep inside.
“Damaged Thoughts is a compelling a cappella single featuring Isolucci and Dollar HE, that strips away traditional trap production to place absolute focus on raw vocal delivery, harmonic textures, and unfiltered emotional vulnerability.”
He added: “Released globally alongside its accompanying Damaged Thoughts Beat (Deluxe Edition), the track leans heavily into themes of introspection, mental weight, and past scars, allowing the artists’ interwoven performances to carry the full weight of the narrative.
“Sonically, the single exemplifies the Soulful Shona-Trap sub-genre blending heavy, atmospheric 808 trap rhythms with deep emotional melodies and poignant Shona and English lyrics.”
His single “Sadza Rakashisha” was released globally in June.
The track received an exclusive international media premiere through V13 Media.
