Imbube music lovers are in for a treat after the Bulawayo Arts Festival (BAF) unveiled the line-up for its Imbube Night show set for June 5 at the Large City Hall.
Groups scheduled to perform include Black Umfolosi, Amaqaqa, Indosakusa The Morning Star, Udonsi LwabaPostoli, and Great Stars Ijongosi.
Brighton Mlilo, popularly known as MC Mozeh, will host the event, with admission pegged at US$2.
This year’s edition of BAF will run from June 2 to 6 under the theme, “Building Bridges, Preserving Connections.”
Organised by the City of Bulawayo, the festival promises five days of artistic expression, culture, and community engagement.
Apart from Imbube Night, festivalgoers can also look forward to the Kings and Queens of Bulawayo Live show on June 4 at the Large City Hall. The event will feature performances by Mzoe 7, Bhila, Mandie Mae, Macala Macala, Matojeni Melo-Maniacs, MJ Sings, and Phathi Ncube.
On June 6, Vuyo Brown will headline the Vuyo Brown Live in Concert show at the City Hall Car Park in what organisers describe as a memorable night of music and artistic celebration.
A full programme for this year’s edition is expected to be released soon.
Established in 2020 to commemorate the declaration of June 1 as “Bulawayo Day,” BAF has grown into an annual platform that celebrates local heritage, promotes cultural tourism, and strengthens the creative economy.
This year marks 132 years since Bulawayo was declared a town on June 1, 1894.
