IT was a day of joy and tears in Dekezi, Matabeleland South, as Miss Rural Organisation founder Sipho Mazibuko and her queens gave back to the community that raised them.
Mazibuko, whose organisation celebrates rural beauty and empowerment, donated 47 school uniforms to pupils from disadvantaged families and orphans at Dekezi Primary School, the same school her mother once attended.
“I decided to give back to the community because this is the school that my mother went to, the very same mother who gave birth to me. So it only seemed right for me to give back to it,” said Mazibuko.
The glamorous handover ceremony on 14 October 2025 saw two Rural Queens; Miss Masvingo Angelina Taruvanda and Miss Matabeleland South Nomatter Silibele Mpofu joining the initiative to inspire young learners to dream big.
The school’s headmistress, Samukelisiwe Tshuma, was full of gratitude.
“Dekezi Primary and community are so grateful for the donation from the daughter of our former student, Mrs Mazibuko. The donation has gone a long way in assisting our orphans and vulnerable children. We are so grateful,” she said.
After the school event, the two queens received a hero’s welcome in Mpofu’s hometown, where relatives, neighbours, and fans lined the streets, singing and dancing in celebration.
Mpofu’s mother could not hold back her tears as she embraced her daughter after a long time apart.
From heartfelt donations to emotional homecomings, the day proved that true beauty shines brightest when it uplifts others.
