Afro-Pop musician Bhila, known for his hit song Emaweni, has endorsed AmaPiano sensation Mzoe 7 to claim the Outstanding Male Artiste of the Year award at the upcoming Bulawayo Arts Awards (BAA).

The much-anticipated awards ceremony is set for December 20 at the Zimbabwe International Exhibition Centre (ZIEC) Hall 3.

Mzoe 7 faces stiff competition in the category, going head-to-head with Afro-Pop musician MJ Sings, Tshibilika music’s Mxolisi “Mr Bones of the Faka 2 Phezu Kwembondlela” fame, Fab G Mshanakagogo, whose Imali Yesgweja has been dubbed Bulawayo’s song of the year, and Ndebele Zimdancehall star Ma9Nine.

Bhila, who is also a two-time nominee at the BAAs, singled out Mzoe 7 for his exceptional impact on the music scene.
“If I were to choose the Male Artiste of the Year, I would go for Mzoe 7. He has managed to tick all the necessary boxes needed to be outstanding. From audience connection, visibility, and consistency to recognition from reputable companies, his impact on the industry is undeniable,” said Bhila.

“He’s a leader in the industry who has worked so hard, and God has guided him. It’s his time. I wholeheartedly wish him to win the award, including the People’s Choice. I also hope that corporates will jump in and reward him with a big cheque for such resilience. This doesn’t just benefit the individual, but it pushes everyone to aim high and level up.”

Meanwhile, the BAA organisers emphasised that winners in all categories will be determined by a panel of judges, except for the People’s Choice award, which will be decided through fan voting online and on a ballot at the main event.
