Bosso will forever remember Sir Wicknell

THE death of Sir Wicknell Chivayo has left a void that will be deeply felt by Highlanders Football Club and its passionate supporters.

As a Bosso supporter, I wish to express my heartfelt gratitude for the contribution he made to the survival and well-being of our beloved club. Highlanders is more than a football team. It is an institution that carries the pride of Bulawayo, the hopes of generations and the emotions of thousands of loyal supporters. For many of us, Bosso is family.

We celebrate together in victory, suffer together in defeat and remain united even when the club faces difficult times.

That is why Sir Wicknell’s contribution deserves to be remembered. Whatever opinions people may have held about him, his support for Highlanders was meaningful to those who want to see the club survive, remain competitive and reclaim its place among Zimbabwe’s football giants.

His passing is a reminder that individuals who step forward to support institutions that mean so much to communities can leave a lasting mark. While money alone cannot solve all of Highlanders’ challenges, his donation provided tangible assistance and demonstrated the difference that financial support can make to a struggling football institution.

As we mourn his death, I hope the Highlanders family will remember his contribution with gratitude. I also hope his gesture will inspire other well-wishers, businesses and former players to invest in the club’s future. Bosso cannot depend on one benefactor, it needs a sustainable support system built around its members, supporters, corporate partners and the wider community.

To Sir Wicknell’s family and loved ones, I extend my sincere condolences. May they find strength and comfort during this difficult time.

As a Highlanders supporter, I say thank you, Sir Wicknell, for the hand you extended to Bosso. Your contribution will remain part of the club’s story, and the void left by your passing will be felt by many who share our love for the black and white.
