BOTSWANA-BASED Zim hip hop artist, Nizzy Rapps, has dropped double singles —‘Kwese naMwari’ and ‘Alelujah’.
This follows a four-year hiatus from the music scene.
The singles were produced by Zimbabwean producer, Axe, who is also based in Botswana. In an interview, Nizzy Rapps said making music outside Zimbabwe has elevated his career.
“At first I thought it didn’t make any sense recording outside Zimbabwe until I managed to reach Botswana artist, William Last.
“Since then I have been enjoying airplay in Botswana despite use of the Shona language and I’m even getting interviews on their television stations.
“My latest singles have been received quite well and I’m filled with so much gratitude.
“I was focusing on other projects outside music for the past four years but I never stopped recording and keeping my work in a ‘vault of perfection’,” said Nizzy Rapps.
He also hinted that he is working on his last drop for this year and it will be dedicated to his ghetto area.
“I grew up in Dzivarasekwa and the people there have always supported my work since the onset of my career.
“I have a single dedicated for them which will also be accompanied by visuals.
“My fans need to be on the watch out as we close off 2025,” he said.
Meanwhile, his producer Axe said working outside Zimbabwe has opened doors for both of them.
“We are learning a lot about the trends and sound types that will make us reach the regional market.
“It’s been quite an experience having to produce work outside Zimbabwe and mixing various sounds while sticking to our roots,” he said.
