BREAKING: Gogo Chihera, Tongai Moyo’s mother, Dies at 94

The mother of the  late  sungura legend Tongai Moyo, Ambuya Esther Mhurai Zengeya,  popularly known as Gogo Chihera, has died aged 94.

Family spokesperson and grandson Obert Moyo confirmed that Gogo Chihera died at her rural home in Zhombe, Sosombe, Village 6.

She had been battling asthma among other health  complications.

“Gogo had been ill for quiet some time and she also had asthma. We are very saddened  by her death as she was pillar of strength within the Moyo family and the Zhombe community, where she was widely respected for her wisdom, resilience and deep cultural values,” he said.

Mourners are gathered in Zhombe.

Moyo said funeral  arrangements will be communicated in due course.
