A SECRET affair and family jealousy exploded into deadly violence in Chimanimani, leaving one brother dead and another behind bars.
National police spokesperson Commissioner Paul Nyathi confirmed the arrest of Tonderai Masaiti (37) over the murder of his elder brother, Benjamin Masaiti (43), following a heated love triangle drama.
“Police in Chimanimani arrested Tonderai Masaiti (37) in connection with a murder case in which his brother, Benjamin Masaiti (43) died,” said Comm Nyathi.
Police allege the fight was sparked by rumours that Tonderai was having an affair with his brother’s wife.
“The suspect allegedly assisted his sister in law, Chipo Chirigo (45), in attacking the victim following a dispute which reportedly stemmed from allegations that Tonderai Masaiti was having an affair with Chipo Chirigo who was married to the victim,” said Comm Nyathi.
While one brother is now in police custody, the alleged lover has disappeared.
“Chipo Chirigo is on the run,” Comm Nyathi said.
He appealed to the public to help track down the runaway sister in law.
“Anyone with information that may assist in the arrest of Chipo Chirigo to report at any nearest Police Station,” said Comm Nyathi.
He warned that love triangles often end in tears and prison, urging families to sort out bedroom dramas before they turn deadly.
