THROUGH a stream of tears, Brunette Makanyiso’s mother, Faith, has revealed that her daughter grew up in poverty and was chased away from school several times for failing to pay fees.
Faith was visibly emotional when she welcomed her daughter at Robert Gabriel Mugabe International Airport on Tuesday from her impressive run at the Miss World pageant in Vietnam.
Brunette made it into the Top 12 and was also voted second in the world and first in ‘Beauty With A Purpose’ project.

Faith said she always knew her daughter was destined for something special.
“When I gave birth to her, I knew there was something special in her and I named her Brunette Makanaka because she was so beautiful.
“She was reserved and a brilliant child at school.
“I want to thank God for helping me raise her together with her siblings.
“She went to different primary schools because sometimes I would fail to raise her school fees but, surprisingly, she would still claim first position at those schools.”
Faith said she still struggles to believe how far her daughter has gone in the modelling industry.
“Now things have changed and I want to thank God because I am a proud mother to her,” she said.
From humble beginnings and countless sacrifices to watching her daughter make the Miss World Top 12, Faith’s story goes far beyond beauty and pageantry.
