Zimbabwean Afro-soul musician Bryan Kadengu, popularly known as Bryan K, has teamed up with South African rapper K.O on his latest album titled Phara City.
The new track from Phara City was released four days ago and has already garnered over 15 000 views on You Tube signalling strong interest from fans.
Bryan K shared what inspired his collaboration with K.O on Phara City.
He was moved by it and reached out to ask if he could use the vocals for a project he was working on.
We got in touch and what started as a simple clip evolved into a full-circle collaboration.
It’s a reminder that what you put out in the world, even just one video, can reach the right ears at the right time,” he said.
He also commented on his partnership with K.O. Bryan K also shed light on how his music has evolved since his debut album in 2015.
“It has been a beautiful, faith-driven evolution. From the beginning, I’ve always loved experimenting, every project since my first album has been an expression of what God was doing in my life at that time.
“Musically I’ve explored different sounds, but spiritually, the thread has always been love even before I committed fully to gospel music in 2022. Since 2022 , the focus has been more intentional, gospel yes, but still full of soul, honesty and experimentation. I’ve grown not just as an artist but as a vessel. Now it’s not just about making music , it’s also about building spaces, creating impact, and helping others find their voice too,” he said.
Bryan K announced that he is working on a new project. “I’m in the thick of creating new music that blends soul, gospel, and an African authenticity. I’m collaborating with both emerging and established artists across the continent. On top of that, we’ve reignited our Jesus4Everyone movement, a platform that’s more than just music. We host Soul therapy sessions every Sunday at Greenwood park. We have live music, storytelling, spiritual healing, and real time connection,” Bryan K said.
He also had advice for young Zimbabwean musicians that are trying to break into the industry.
“ Don’t wait for perfect. Start now. Post your work.
“That video you are sitting on could change your life. Stay consistent, keep growing your skills and keep God at the center. Protect your authenticity. Build your own lane and keep moving in faith. The right people will find you,” he shared.
Bryan K has released three albums and one EP so far. His debut album Nyaya Dzerudo came out in 2015, followed by Evolution K in 2018, and Bibo Worldwide in 2020.
The latter featured collaborations with prominent Zimbabwean artists including Crooger, Nutty O, Junior Brown, Tamy Moyo, and Anita Jackson.
At the Zimstar 2020 Awards, Bryan K won the Outstanding Musician per Genre: RnB/Soul award, and his album Bibo Worldwide was nominated for Outstanding Album.
