BULAWAYO Children’s Choir, a renowned recording and performing ensemble, has teamed up with award-winning Hip Hop duo Asaph Afrika and Meet Luminous on a song titled Yes I Can — an uplifting anthem that celebrates self-empowerment and perseverance.

The track, scheduled for release in the first week of November, was produced by Percy of Hertz Studios and will be accompanied by visuals shot by AJV Afri Art.

Asaph Afrika, celebrated for his influence in the rap scene and his commitment to promoting social issues and emerging artistes, brings his signature style to the track, while Meet Luminous delivers a compelling verse that adds depth to the project.

Trevor Mawaka, Director of the Bulawayo Children’s Choir, described the collaboration with leading figures in the local Hip Hop scene as a dream come true, noting that their contributions have enriched and strengthened the choir’s musical catalogue.

Asaph Afrika

“We are thrilled to have collaborated with Asaph Afrika and Meet Luminous on this special project. Their passion and talent have brought a new level of excitement to our music, and we can’t wait for everyone to hear it. The experience of going to the studio with them was inspirational, and we hope it will significantly contribute to the musical growth of our children,” said Mawaka.

Meet Luminous expressed his enjoyment in working with the Bulawayo Children’s Choir, praising the group’s talent and potential to become a major force in Zimbabwe’s music scene.

Meet Luminous

“When Trevor reached out to me and mentioned that I’d be working with a children’s choir, my heart melted. I remember what it was like being a child and wanting to express my gifts. This collaboration was an opportunity to honour and inspire children who dream of becoming artistes.

“I give credit to the children themselves — they were well-organised, which was evident during the recording session. The choir is incredibly talented; we simply featured on a solid song, contributing to an already well-established vision,” said Luminous.
