Bulawayo hip-hop duo Crisswiss & The Dot famed for the hit, Bad Vibes, have made a bold return to the music scene with their new 21-track album, 328 Bando (The Abandoned House), a project aimed at reclaiming their space and amplifying the city’s voice in Zimbabwean hip-hop.
The album features collaborations with a star-studded line-up including Seven, Laurel Swiss, Lee McHoney, Biko Maximus, Brucella, Khaya Sibindi, Maqhawe Music, MUSE, Madlela Skhobokhobo, Babongile Skhonjwa, CzAr ODriego, Dr. Ample, Uno XO, Swing Luv, Digital Dre, and more. Key tracks include Whats Your Flight Number?, Midas Touch, Landela, Roll It Up, All Your Secrets, Bophi Bulugwe, Banomona Remix, and Highlander.
Crisswiss said the 328 Bando project builds on the foundation laid by their previous work, Room 328 (The Bridgeview), and aims to showcase authentic Bulawayo stories on a global stage.
“Each track under the 328 banner is rooted in representing our city and our culture. It’s about giving hip-hop from our side of the world the recognition it deserves, while also creating a platform for young artistes and the community at large,” said Crisswiss.
Two lead singles are already making waves: Highlander, a track celebrating Highlanders FC and its unifying influence across Zimbabwe, and Bophi Bulugwe, a tribute to liberation heroes past and present.
“The title reflects all the forgotten or unreleased projects sitting in the vault, now brought back to life. We collaborated with an incredible line-up of talent, both vocalists and producers,” he added.
Production on the album is as diverse as its features, with beats from Dr Ample, Muse (The Balcony), Rayo Beats, KJ Beats, LA Josh, OD Styles, Afro 25, and Tony JRG. The album art, crafted by Blacksheep Creates, visually captures the vision of 328 Bando. – Follow on X: @mthabisi_mthire
