BULAWAYO junior councillors attended the city’s full council meeting this month as part of an initiative to expose young leaders to local governance and decision-making processes.

The full council meeting, the highest decision-making platform of the municipality, is chaired by Bulawayo Mayor Senator David Coltart and attended by elected councillors, Town Clerk Mr Christopher Dube and heads of council departments.

During the meeting, Mr Dube tabled reports on council business for deliberation by councillors.

Welcoming the junior councillors, Senator Coltart described them as the city’s future leaders and encouraged them to take an active interest in governance and public service.

The young councillors observed proceedings as councillors debated key service delivery issues, considered policy proposals and deliberated on matters affecting the city’s development.

The initiative forms part of Bulawayo City Council’s efforts to nurture future civic leaders by providing practical exposure to how local authorities formulate policies, make decisions and oversee service delivery.
