Bulawayo man assaults wife, pours urine on her blankets

A 47-year-old Bulawayo man has been fined US$140 for physical abusing his wife by pouring urine on her blankets, assaulting her with fists and open hand all over her body.

Muluki Mleya of Cowdray Park suburb appeared before Western Commonage magistrate, Mr Jeconia Prince Ncube, facing a charge of physical abuse.
He pleaded guilty to the charge and was initially sentenced to pay US$140 in default of which he will be sentenced to two months in prison. The fine is payable before March 20.

Prosecutor, Mr Tafara Dzimbanhete, told the court that accused and complainant are husband and wife.
The incident occurred on February 10, 2026 at around 11PM when the accused person denied his wife Phumuzile Mhlanga (34) access to sleep on the bed.

The court heard that the complainant went to sleep on the floor and the accused poured urine on her blankets, assaulted her with fists and open hands several times all over the body.

The complainant sustained bruises on the right hand, said Mr Dzimbanhete.
