Ngqabutho Masuku of Cowdray Park suburb appeared before city magistrate, Mr Challenge Mahembe, facing a charge of possession of dagga without a permit.
He pleaded guilty to the charge.
According to the prosecutor, Ms Josephine Gurazhira, the allegations are that on November 2 at around 7.30PM, police details on patrol approached Masuku at the corner of 5th Ave and Fife Street, searched him and recovered five sachets of dagga wrapped with a transparent plastic in his jacket pocket.
He was immediately arrested.
“On November 3, the accused person was taken to CID police drugs and narcotics, Bulawayo, for further management,” said Ms Gurazhira.
The court heard that, on the same date, the recovered dagga was taken to Bulawayo Main Post Office, where it was weighed in the presence of Masuku and it recorded a mass of 18 grammes with a street value of ZWG540.
