A 29-YEAR-OLD Bulawayo man has appeared in court for allegedly stabbing his ex-girlfriend three times on the back following a confrontation at a local bar.

Raymond Shain Mhlanga of Old Pumula appeared before Western Commonage magistrate Mr Jeconia Prince Ncube, facing a charge of attempted murder. He was remanded in custody to December 29.

Prosecuting, Mrs Ellen Matenga told the court that Mhlanga and the complainant are former lovers.

The State alleges that on December 11 at around 10.30PM, the complainant, Ms Nkosiyalinda Gumede (31), was drinking beer at Migalo Sports Bar in Old Pumula.

After stepping outside the bar, she was approached by the accused, who questioned her about her presence at the establishment.

An argument ensued, during which Mhlanga allegedly stabbed Gumede three times on the right side of her back with an unknown object.

Bleeding heavily, the complainant managed to leave the scene and later reported the matter at ZRP Pumula.

She was subsequently admitted to Mpilo Central Hospital, where she is receiving treatment.
