THE Pacific Bulawayo Shutdown gig has been moved to the Zimbabwe International Trade Fair (ZITF) Main Arena,organisers have announced.
The decision was made to avoid further conflict with the City of Bulawayo and Zimbabwe Cricket (ZC).
The event, scheduled for April 26, was initially pencilled for Queens Sports Club.
However, the venue choice faced strong opposition from Bulawayo Mayor, Councillor David Coltart, who argued that it would jeopardise preparations for Zimbabwe’s upcoming international test cricket fixtures against New Zealand and South Africa.
In a Press statement released on April 5, the Queens Sports Club board of management said that under the current lease agreement with ZC, the club retains the right to host social events and activities at the venue, in addition to accommodating cricket matches, potentially setting the stage for a conflict with city officials.
However, Harris Entertainment, the organisers of the event, have announced a venue change, effectively ending any potential further disputes.
“ZITF, in partnership with Harris Entertainment, would like to inform the public of the change of venue for the Pacific Bulawayo Shutdown from Queens Sports Ground to the ZITF Main Arena,” the statement read.
