THE City of Bulawayo, in partnership with the Ministry of Health and Child Care, will next week roll out the next phase of the Synchronised Novel Oral Polio Vaccine Type 2 (nOPV2) vaccination campaign targeting all children under the age of five.

The four-day campaign will run from Tuesday to Friday as part of ongoing efforts to protect children against poliomyelitis and prevent the spread of the disease.

The vaccine will be available free of charge at all Bulawayo City Council clinics, central hospitals, Mater Dei Hospital and selected private surgeries offering immunisation services.

Vaccination teams will also administer the vaccine at crèches, primary schools, churches, marketplaces, bus termini and designated outreach points, while door-to-door teams will visit households to ensure all eligible children are reached.

Health authorities have urged parents and guardians to ensure every child below the age of five receives the vaccine, regardless of their previous vaccination status, to strengthen immunity and protect communities from polio.
