A 31-YEAR-OLD Bulawayo vendor has appeared in court for allegedly striking a fellow trader with a metal bar following a dispute over merchandise.

Wiseman Ncube of Cowdray Park suburb appeared before Bulawayo regional magistrate Mr Mark Dzira facing an attempted murder charge.

He was remanded in custody to April 29 pending the production of a medical report.
Prosecuting, Ms Hazel Ncube told the court that on April 14, at Heroes Gardens along Jason Moyo Street between 4th Avenue and Fife Street, the accused had a misunderstanding with the complainant, Prosper Mackenzie of Nkulumane.
“The accused person then struck the complainant once on the head with a metal bar,” she said.

The court heard that Mackenzie sustained a cut to the head and injuries to his left eye and was referred to hospital for medical examination.

The matter was reported to the police, leading to the accused’s arrest.
