Preparations are underway for a live music showcase in Matobo honouring Bulawayo’s emerging talent.
The event to be held on Saturday marks a major milestone for Creative Bluez, an initiative launched in July to nurture and promote the city’s next generation of musical stars.
Creative Bluez, spearheaded by producers Lungile “Lungz D” Dube and Tanaka Leroy “Sparks 45” Moyo, has groomed nine promising artistes through a hands-on development programme. Their journey culminated in an intensive seven-day songwriting, recording and performance boot camp held amid the tranquil surroundings of Matopo.
The selected artistes, representing a broad spectrum of Bulawayo’s contemporary sound, are Nomazulu “Noma” Mguni (Afro-house/Amapiano), Karen “Acquillah K” Dhliwayo (Afro-soul/Afro-pop/RnB), Catherine “Cathy” Taruvinga (Afro-beats/Reggae Dancehall), Kingsley “Kingsley Summer” Siziba (Amapiano), Denzel Takudzwa “Amigoroyce” Pfute (Hip-hop/Afro-beats), Walter Mcebisi “D Lax” Dlamini (Afro-pop/Dancehall), Khotso “The Juggernaut” Dube (Dancehall), Nkosinomusa “Lakosta” Tshuma (Kasi Rap/Amapiano), and Garikai “GaRy” Chakanyuka (Soul/RnB/Afro-pop).
“Preparations are progressing smoothly, and we’re thrilled to present Bulawayo’s rising stars to the world,” said event curators, Kulture Studios manager, Julliane Ncube.
The Matopo event will feature performances of the artistes’ original compositions crafted during the boot camp, symbolising the power of collaboration, creativity, and mentorship in shaping the city’s cultural future.
