CCAP RIMUKA MUSICAL GROUP ON THE RISE

A YOUTHFUL all-male local gospel musical group, called Exodus, is marvelling at their growing status and influence in musical circles in Kadoma.

After having been influenced by the CCAP Voice of Mbare, CCAP Rimuka Exodus is a musical group on the rise.

The 16-member group was even given the chance to share the stage with Mahendere Brothers at the recently-held Kadoma Gospel Music Festival.

The group has been performing weekly at The Odyssey.

Group chairperson, Rodney Champion, reveals that the ensemble was formed in the late ‘90s.

“As long as someone is a member of the CCAP Church, they can become members.

“We, however, have a vetting process to ensure that we recruit members who meet our criteria.

“Our motive is to preach the word of God through music.

“The original founders have left for other commitments, others are now living abroad, but the sound lives on.

“When we realised that gap, we took it upon ourselves to carry the baton and never let down the project.”

He added:

“We are getting an encouraging response from the public who are accessing and accepting our music.

“We feel encouraged as we spread the word of God in an entertaining way.

“We are humbled by the fact that we are even able to convince non-Christians to follow us through the power of our musical style and messages.

“They are some who have become part of our church as a result of this ambitious project.”
