ZANU PF Deputy National Political Commissar Cde Webster Shamu has urged other provinces to adopt Matabeleland South Province’s constituency based political engagement meetings, which he described as an example of structured, community level party interaction.

The initiative, known as the Zanu PF Provincial Constituency Interface Meetings, was conducted across all 12 constituencies in the province’s seven districts – Bulilima, Umzingwane, Gwanda, Beitbridge, Insiza, Matobo and Mangwe.

The constituencies covered were Bulilima, Beitbridge East, Beitbridge West, Gwanda South, Gwanda North, Gwanda Tshitaudze, Esigodini, Insiza North, Insiza South, Mangwe, Matobo Mangwe and Matobo.

Speaking during the final interface meeting held in Madlambudzi in Bulilima District last Saturday, Cde Shamu commended the provincial leadership, saying the model had strengthened interaction between party representatives and local structures.

“This platform is a very important one. I want to congratulate the provincial chairman, Cde Nqobizitha Ndlovu, for a brilliant idea on how to modernise our party. I hope we will adopt this strategy and roll it out throughout the country. If every province creates an opportunity of this nature, we will grow,” said Cde Shamu.

Cde Shamu described the programme as an approach aimed at improving mobilisation, accountability and direct engagement among leadership, Members of Parliament and grassroots structures.
“I have witnessed frank and honest discussions, focused identification of challenges, proposals for solutions and accountability from Members of Parliament. I have never witnessed such a move in any other province where the entire provincial leadership and all Members of Parliament come together to collectively account to the people,” he said.

Cde Shamu said the interface meetings had helped strengthen unity and organisational discipline in the province. He added that completing engagements in all 12 constituencies showed coordinated planning and follow through.
“The completion of engagements in all 12 constituencies shows seriousness of purpose, effective coordination and a clear understanding of people centred leadership,” said Cde Shamu.

Several senior party officials attended the event, including Politburo member Cde Richard Ndlovu, Zanu PF Veterans League National Political Commissar Cde Ntombiyakhe Ndlovu, Matabeleland South Provincial Chairman Cde Nqobizitha Ndlovu and Central Committee members Cde Dingumuzi Phuti and Dr Evelyn Ndlovu.

Also present were the Matabeleland South Provincial Political Commissar Cde Washington Nkomo, Provincial Youth League Chairman Cde Moses Langa, Young Women for ED national coordinator Cde Sithabile Gandi Ndlovu, provincial league members, Zanu PF Bulilima District Coordinating Committee officials and party members.
