Masvingo Provincial Affairs and Devolution Minister Ezra Chadzamira has warned elements bent on disrupting the peace and tranquillity prevailing in the province that the long arm of the law will deal with them.
Addressing journalists at his Benjamin Burombo Office while flanked by other members of the provincial Joint Operations Command (JOC) on Wednesday, Minister Chadzamira warned rogue elements planning illegal demonstrations that they will be dealt with severely.
The warning comes in the wake of plans by some groups to stage illegal protests and demonstrations across the country on Friday, July 31, 2026.
Minister Chadzamira said illegal protests will not be countenanced in Masvingo province.
“Let it be very clear to those who are planning to disturb the province’s peace and tranquillity through staging illegal and unsanctioned demonstrations in our province on Friday, 31 July 2026 that they will be charged as per the dictates of our constitution for their actions,” said Minister Chadzamira.
“We will not tolerate rogue elements who disrupt our peace and stop other law-abiding citizens from conducting their day-to-day businesses. Anyone who is found on the wrong side of the law will be severely dealt with.”
He pointed out that the country’s laws and constitution guaranteed peace-loving Zimbabweans protection while doing their normal business.
He urged businesses and schools to open as usual, exhorting people across the province not to heed calls from rogue elements seeking to destabilise the country and create chaos.
“I want to assure our peace-loving people of Masvingo and the nation at large that peace and tranquillity in the province is guaranteed,” he said.
“Schools, universities and colleges together with businesses should operate normally because their security and safety is guaranteed by our security agencies, everyone will be protected.”
