GOSPEL chanter Prince Chigwida illuminated the Zion Christian Church (ZCC) Youth Church gala in Masvingo last week.
During his one-hour performance at the 2025 Youth Gala, the Mazambara hit-maker sent the crowd into delirium.
He belted out jams such as ‘Gore Rino’, ‘Ndiringei Mambo’ and ‘Tidurirei Ngoni’, which brought the roof down at the venue packed by a crowd of close to 40,000 people.Speaking soon after the show, the young energetic artist said he was moved by the reception he received from the ZCC members.
“Firstly, I would want to thank Bishop Nehemiah Mutendi, who accorded those who organised the event, the permission for us musicians to come and perform at one of the biggest churches not only in Zimbabwe but in the world.
“Over the years, we would perform for a few minutes during church services but this time around it was our time to shine.”
Another artist, Obert Chari, also entertained the huge crowd. The ZCC youth chairperson, Jasper Mangwana, said:“As a church, we want to promote good values. “We want to weed out the bad habits, including violence among our youths, discourage the use of drugs, and promote societal cohesion.
“We are, therefore, using entertainment so that we get to them and teach them the gospel of salvation, as well as inculcate good morals.
“We also had to invite the musicians so that people know that outside Harare, we can still have great places of convergence for the good work of the Lord.
“We had high-profile people who were with us and we wrapped up the day with healing and deliverance of thousands of people.”
Prince Meke, who was the stage manager and director of ceremony, said more musical shows would be lined up at the ZCC Church.
“It is one of the church’s duties to promote peace, unity, and national healing. A lot of youths were inspired by the performances and we are confident that they will want to pursue music and leave behind their bad behaviour.
“That is our mission as event organisers.”
