THE son of John “Chibhodhoro” Muyambo says he will keep his father’s flame burning when the legendary drummer finally retires.
Nigel Tendai Muyambo, a prison officer, is determined to carry forward his father’s artistic legacy.
Tendai has made a name for himself in the Zimbabwe Prisons and Correctional Service (ZPCS) Band, embracing the same passion for drumming and dance that his father showcased.
He is committed to ensuring that his father’s legacy does not fade away into obscurity.
Teaming up with his colleague Mthokozisi Ncube, Tendai is actively engaging the community in the fight against drug abuse through the arts.
“My mission is to create a series of videos, dramas and dance performances.
“Our goal is to reach a wide audience and spark meaningful conversations.
“We aim to uplift my father’s legacy and, hopefully, extend our reach throughout the region.”
Tendai’s work in the arts and rehabilitation section has positively impacted many artists who are serving their sentences.
“Music unites people and by reaching out to inmates across the region, I take immense pride in keeping my father’s legacy alive.”
